Dr. Matthew Ng
Dr. Matthew Ng completed his undergraduate (BSc) and dental education (DMD) at the University of Manitoba in Winnipeg, Canada. He went on to pursue his orthodontic education (MSD) at Saint Louis University in St. Louis, Missouri. Dr. Ng is Board Certified with the American Board of Orthodontics.
Dr. Ng is an active member in the profession as a Past-President of the Texas Association of Orthodontists, Southwest Society of Orthodontists and Southern Society of Orthodontists. He also serves as the President-Elect for the College of Diplomates of the American Board of Orthodontics. On the national level, Dr Ng is a Delegate to the American Association of Orthodontists (AAO) and serves on a variety of different committees and task forces. He is also the Secretary-Treasurer for the Southwest Component of the Edward H. Angle Society of Orthodontists.
Dr. Ng is humbled to lecture at a number of orthodontic residencies and serves as Adjunct Clinical Faculty at Saint Louis University and Touro College of Dental Medicine. He enjoys meeting orthodontists all over the world as a Key-Opinion Leader for American Orthodontics and uLab Systems. In his spare time, he is an active member of his local church and enjoys spending time with his lovely wife and three kids. Dr. Ng can be frequently seen at youth baseball tournaments all over Houston cheering on his boys.
Lecture Description:
All Roads Lead to Rome: Class II Treatment with American Orthodontics
Not all Class II's are created equal! The contemporary orthodontist needs to be a master at properly diagnosing and treatment planning the Class II malocclusion. In the lecture, Dr. Ng will break down the many nuances of the Class II malocclusion and highlight the use of different contemporary appliances using a non-extraction approach. He will also explain different bracket systems to more effectively and efficiently finish cases.
Course Objectives:
- Identify the different aspects of Class II malocclusions.
- Identify the importance of the third order and adequate torque control to fully correct most Class II malocclusions.
- Become familiar with the advantages and disadvantages of different contemporary appliances aimed at treating Class II malocclusions.
- Identify the challenges of treating the different types of asymmetric Class II malocclusions.
